Georgia BBQ Championship Final Results for 2011

The folks at the Georgia BBQ Championship have posted the final results for 2011 and it should come as no surprise that Bub-Ba-Q was the points leader. Bub-ba-Q competed in ten events for a combined final tally of 2763.9994 points. The surprise is that Cool Smoke having competed in only four events placed second with 2759.4284 points. Rounding out the top ten were: South Pork, Pit Bulls”Up in Smoke”, Wicked Que, Que’n Stew’n & Brew’n, Buttrub.com, Holy Smokes, Blue Sky BBQ and EJ’s Q. The second annual Georgia BBQ Championship Awards Banquet will be held Saturday, January 28 at the Brasstown Valley Resort lodge in Young Harris, GA.

Meat Week 2012

For the BBQ fanatic what better way to enjoy BBQ in the dead of winter then with the Atlanta chapter of Meat Week. Meat week 2012 begins January 29th thru February 5th and consists of visiting seven BBQ restaurants in eight nights with the first and last nights dinners being held at Sonny's.

National BBQ Cup


This weekend the National BBQ Cup was held at the fair grounds n Cumming, Georgia. The largest KCBS sanctioned event east of the Mississippi with ninety-three professional teams, which included such names as: Pellet Envy (5th overall),Buttrub.com, Quau, Lotta Bull BBQ and Cool Smoke (Reserve Champion). There were plenty of professional teams from Georgia present as well looking to take the points lead in the Georgia BBQ Championship. Local teams included Bub-Ba-Q (Grand Champion), Rescue Smokers (3rd overall) and Pitt Bulls Up in Smoke (7thoverall) to name a few. Only 0.57 of a point separated Bub-Ba-Q and Cool Smoke. Team Fat, Drunk and Stupid BBQ scored a perfect 180 in brisket. To see how your favorite team performed click here.

In addition to the professional teams there were thirty-one backyard teams competing this weekend. Team Comfort Zone placed first overall in the Backyard Division followed by Crawkee BBQ. The Atlanta BBQ Club entered the backyard division for the first time this year, placing eleventh overall.

The People's Choice winner was Bayou Barq with 44 votes out of thirty one entries. In all 929 votes were cast in the people's choice contest. The line for the People's Choice formed early and remained long for the majority of the afternoon.
